Jaipur Police Bust Grindr Scam Luring Youths to Isolated Spots for Assault and Blackmail

Jaipur West Police announced the arrest of two men suspected of running a criminal ring that exploited the Grindr dating platform to target young men. The gang allegedly arranged meetings in isolated areas, where they assaulted the victims, stole personal belongings and threatened them with blackmail.
The police said the operation came to light after several complaints were lodged by victims who reported being approached through the app. Investigators traced the suspects’ phone numbers and location data, leading to a coordinated raid that resulted in the arrests.
Authorities have warned the public to exercise caution while using dating applications and to report any suspicious approaches. The case underscores growing concerns about the misuse of digital platforms for criminal activities in the city.
The two accused are currently in police custody and will face charges of robbery, assault and extortion under the Indian Penal Code.
