The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has detained a Jaipur police head constable and an alleged broker for seeking a Rs 40,000 bribe to obtain relief in a pending case, and is now examining their assets.
Jaipur police's head constable was taken into custody by the Anti-Corruption Bureau after investigators found that he demanded a payment of Rs 40,000 from a person seeking relief in a pending case. The alleged broker who facilitated the transaction was also arrested at the same time.
The ACB said the two were caught red‑handed during a sting operation at the local police station, where the constable promised to influence the case outcome in exchange for the money.
Following the arrests, officials have begun a detailed audit of the accused's residences and bank records to identify assets that exceed their known sources of income.
The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will be determined based on the findings of the asset probe.
