The Rajasthan Legal Metrology Department’s Jaipur unit carried out an unannounced inspection of several manufacturers and distributors of medical and healthcare products. Inspectors discovered that many items contained less cotton wool than the quantity declared on the label, omitted required consumer information, and were weighed on equipment that had not been properly calibrated.
In response, the authorities confiscated thousands of product packets and levied fines amounting to Rs 2.15 lakh across the various violations identified.
