A group of young people from Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya have launched a skill‑training initiative aimed at restoring the historic royal route that once linked the region’s ancient kingdoms.

Local youths from the Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya have organized a skill‑training programme to revive the historic route once travelled by the region’s monarchs. The initiative focuses on imparting traditional construction, heritage‑conservation and tourism‑guiding skills to participants, enabling them to restore the pathway while gaining employable expertise. Community leaders say the corridor, which linked the Jaintia kingdom with neighboring territories, holds cultural and economic significance, and its revival could boost heritage tourism. The project receives logistical support from district authorities and heritage NGOs, which are providing training materials and supervision. By combining preservation with livelihood creation, the programme aims to safeguard a centuries‑old legacy and generate sustainable income for the youth involved.
