Jailer 2 withdrawn from York Cinemas over missing KDMs, theatre blames distributors and Sun Pictures

York Cinemas announced that the scheduled screening of the Tamil‑language action sequel Jailer 2 has been cancelled. The theatre management said the digital cinema server could not be activated because the Key Delivery Messages (KDMs) needed to decrypt the film were not supplied.
The cinema attributed the lapse to the film's distributors and Sun Pictures, the production house responsible for the movie. According to the statement, without the KDMs the film cannot be projected in compliance with industry security protocols.
The decision affects audiences in the locality who had booked tickets for the weekend shows. No official comment has been received from Sun Pictures or the distributors regarding the missing files.
The incident highlights the reliance of Indian multiplexes on timely digital key delivery for high‑profile releases, a procedural step that, if delayed, can lead to abrupt cancellations.
The theatre has offered refunds to ticket‑holders and is reviewing its scheduling to avoid similar disruptions in the future.
