Tamil blockbuster Jailer 2 has become the highest‑grossing Kollywood film abroad, surpassing $25 million in overseas collections.
The Tamil‑language sequel Jailer 2 has broken new ground for South Indian cinema by earning over $25 million from overseas markets. The figure marks the first time a Kollywood production has crossed the $25 million threshold abroad, setting an all‑time record for the industry.
Industry analysts attribute the film's strong performance to its wide release across key territories such as the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, and Southeast Asian markets. The robust overseas response has boosted the film's global box‑office tally, positioning it ahead of previous Tamil hits.
The achievement underscores the growing international appetite for Tamil cinema and could pave the way for higher budget projects aimed at global audiences. Distributors are now eyeing further releases in additional territories to capitalize on the momentum generated by Jailer 2's record run.
Film‑goers and trade observers alike are watching closely to see whether the momentum can be sustained in the coming weeks, as the film continues its theatrical run across India and abroad.
