The release of the Tamil action film Jailer 2 has been paused in Canada after a financial disagreement surfaced between the film's distributors and York Cinemas.
The Tamil blockbuster Jailer 2, which premiered in India earlier this year, was scheduled to begin screenings in Canadian theatres on 12 October. However, the launch was abruptly halted when a dispute over payments emerged between the film’s distributors and the Canadian chain York Cinemas.
According to reports, the distributors claim that York Cinemas has not settled the agreed distribution fees, while the cinema chain alleges that the payments were delayed due to administrative issues. The disagreement has led to a stand‑off, with both parties refusing to release the film until the financial terms are clarified.
The stoppage has left many fans in Canada disappointed, as the film was highly anticipated for its action sequences and star cast. Several theatres that had already booked the film have temporarily closed the screens, and ticket holders have been offered refunds or rescheduling options.
Industry insiders say negotiations are underway, and the parties hope to resolve the issue quickly so that Jailer 2 can resume screenings. Until then, the film’s Canadian release remains on hold.
