The highly anticipated Jailer 2 has drawn crowds that rise as early as 4:30 a.m. to catch the film, but many theatres report a lack of guaranteed English subtitles, raising concerns about accessibility.
Jailer 2, the latest film starring superstar Rajinikanth, opened across India to a wave of enthusiasm, with fans reportedly waking as early as 4:30 a.m. to secure seats for the premiere.
Despite the film’s pan‑India appeal, a significant number of theatres have admitted that they cannot guarantee the availability of English subtitles for the movie. This shortfall has sparked debate among viewers who expect a multilingual viewing experience.
The lack of subtitles is particularly noteworthy given the film’s broad target audience, which includes non‑Tamil speaking regions. Industry observers suggest that the omission may affect the film’s reception in markets where English subtitles are a standard expectation for major releases.
While Rajinikanth’s star power continues to draw crowds, the subtitle issue highlights a growing concern about accessibility standards in Indian cinema.
