The Tamil blockbuster ‘Jailer 2’ has crossed the ₹400 crore box‑office mark, becoming the eighth Kollywood film to do so, and placing Rajinikanth in half of the club’s entries.
The Tamil‑language action drama ‘Jailer 2’, starring Rajinikanth, has breached the ₹400 crore milestone at the domestic box office, joining an exclusive list of only seven other Kollywood releases to achieve the same. The film’s earnings were confirmed by trade analysts after its latest weekend collections were tallied.
Industry observers attribute the surge to the star’s enduring pull, the film’s wide release across Tamil Nadu and other southern states, and strong word‑of‑mouth promotion. ‘Jailer 2’ opened to packed theatres in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai, and its occupancy rates have remained high throughout its run.
With this achievement, Rajinikanth now appears in half of the films that have entered the ₹400‑crore club, underscoring his status as a box‑office magnet in the region. The actor’s involvement, both as lead and as a brand ambassador for the film’s promotions, has been cited as a key factor in drawing audiences.
The film’s producers have not disclosed the exact final gross, but the ₹400 crore figure places ‘Jailer 2’ firmly among the highest‑earning Tamil productions of all time, further cementing the star’s legacy in South Indian cinema.
