A single‑judge bench of the Jabalpur High Court ordered that MSW students of Rani Durgavati University be allowed to sit their exam after a fee‑related petition was filed just an hour before the start.

The Master of Social Work (MSW) programme at Rani Durgavati University in Jabalpur had barred several students from sitting the scheduled examination because of an unresolved fee dispute with the university administration. The students claimed that the university had not provided a clear breakdown of the dues and had denied them entry to the exam hall despite having paid earlier installments.

In response, the aggrieved students approached the Jabalpur High Court, filing a petition just one hour before the exam was set to begin. The bench, consisting of a single judge, heard the matter on an urgent basis, acknowledging the proximity of the exam timing and the potential impact on the students' academic progress.

The court promptly directed that the students be permitted to appear for the examination without further delay. It also ordered the university to issue a formal notice to the affected candidates, ensuring that their rights to sit the exam are upheld while the fee issue is examined separately.

University officials indicated that they would comply with the court's order and that a detailed review of the fee structure would be undertaken in accordance with the notice. The decision restores the students' immediate right to sit the exam while the broader dispute remains under consideration.
