The Indian Rice Exporters Federation announced a new festive rice package, citing higher domestic prices and upcoming shipments to Egypt.
New Delhi, Oct 15 — The Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) rolled out a special festive rice package aimed at meeting heightened seasonal demand across the country. The initiative, unveiled at a press briefing in New Delhi, bundles premium Basmati and non‑Basmati varieties in larger, gift‑ready packs designed for Diwali and other celebrations.
IREF officials highlighted that domestic rice prices have risen over the past month due to tighter supply and increased input costs. The festive bundle, priced slightly above regular packs, reflects these market pressures while offering consumers value through bulk quantities and attractive packaging.
In parallel, the federation confirmed that a portion of the newly packaged rice will be earmarked for export to Egypt, where demand for Indian rice has grown steadily. Export volumes are expected to rise in the coming quarter, supporting Indian farmers and exporters despite the domestic price uptick.
The launch is part of IREF’s broader strategy to balance domestic consumption needs with export opportunities, ensuring that Indian rice remains competitive both at home and abroad.
