IPL 2025: BCCI Considers March 10-May 15 Window Amidst Heat Worries

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly exploring an earlier start for the Indian Premier League next season, aiming for a March 10 to May 15 window to mitigate concerns over extreme summer heat.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is contemplating a shift in the Indian Premier League (IPL) schedule for the upcoming season. Discussions are underway to potentially commence the tournament earlier, with a proposed window between March 10 and May 15.

This potential schedule adjustment is primarily driven by concerns over the escalating heat conditions experienced in India during the traditional IPL months of April and May. By moving the matches earlier, the BCCI aims to provide a more comfortable playing environment for cricketers and potentially better viewing conditions for fans.

Despite the proposed shift in dates, the number of matches in the tournament is expected to remain constant at 74. This decision is influenced by constraints within the international cricket calendar, which limit the possibility of expanding the league to 94 matches as has been discussed previously.
