The Indian Ports Association has pledged ₹5 crore to support relief efforts in Assam, where severe monsoon floods have displaced thousands.
The Indian Ports Association (IPA) has announced a donation of ₹5 crore to aid flood relief operations in Assam. The funds are earmarked for the distribution of essential supplies such as food, clean water, and medical kits to affected communities.
Assam has been grappling with widespread flooding since early July, when heavy monsoon rains caused rivers to overflow and inundate several districts. Rescue teams and local authorities have been working round the clock to evacuate residents and provide emergency shelter.
IPA’s contribution comes as part of a broader national effort to support disaster‑prone regions. The association said the money will be channeled through state relief agencies to ensure swift delivery to the hardest hit areas.
Officials in Assam have welcomed the donation, noting that it will help bridge gaps in the current relief supply chain and expedite the return of normalcy to flooded villages.
