The Indian censor board ordered the removal of an intimate sequence from the movie ‘Verity’, even though the film carries an ‘A’ rating.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has instructed that an intimate scene in the recently released movie “Verity” be trimmed for Indian audiences. The decision was taken despite the film being granted an ‘A’ (Adult) certificate, which normally permits adult content without further cuts.
Industry observers note that the A rating is intended for viewers aged 18 and above, allowing filmmakers greater creative freedom. However, the board cited specific concerns about the explicitness of the sequence and deemed it unsuitable for public exhibition in its original form.
The producers of “Verity” have not issued a detailed statement, but the edited version is expected to reach theatres within the next few days. The move has sparked a brief debate among cinema‑goers about the consistency of the board’s guidelines for adult‑rated films.
