Forest officials in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve have discovered fresh wounds on the face of tiger T-108, prompting heightened vigilance over a possible confrontation with another male tiger.
Forest staff conducting routine monitoring in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, reported the presence of fresh injury marks near the face of the resident male tiger identified as T-108. The marks were observed during a recent camera‑trap check and are believed to be recent.
The Rajasthan Forest Department has issued an alert and is closely tracking the animal’s movements. Officials have increased patrols in the vicinity of T-108’s known territory to gather further evidence and to ensure the tiger’s safety.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the wounds could be the result of an encounter with another male tiger, a scenario not uncommon during the breeding season when dominant individuals vie for territory. Such clashes can lead to visible injuries but also pose risks of serious harm.
The department plans to continue non‑invasive observation, using camera traps and GPS collars where feasible, to determine whether a confrontation has occurred and to mitigate any potential escalation between the rivals.
