Indore's Dhar Bhojshala embroiled in fresh dispute over shared worship path and unclear monument limits

The historic Dhar Bhojshala in Indore is again in controversy as authorities grapple with the use of a single pathway for both puja and namaz and the undefined limits of the protected monument.

The Dhar Bhojshala, a heritage structure in Indore, has re-entered public debate despite a recent High Court verdict that was expected to settle longstanding disputes. Local religious groups now contend that the same entrance corridor is being used simultaneously for Hindu puja and Muslim namaz, raising concerns over ritual interference and crowd management.

Compounding the issue is the lack of a clearly demarcated perimeter for the protected monument. Officials have not published an official map, leaving devotees and heritage activists uncertain about the exact boundaries that should be respected during religious activities.

City authorities have said they are reviewing the matter and will consult both community leaders and the archaeology department to delineate a definitive access route. Meanwhile, the controversy underscores the delicate balance between preserving cultural heritage and accommodating the city's diverse worship practices.

No further legal action has been reported, but the situation remains fluid as stakeholders await a clarified plan from the municipal and heritage bodies.
