On Saturday, Indore will observe Narak Chaturdashi by lighting lamps at its Mukti Dham sites, while the historic Rajwada area will remain a two‑day no‑vehicle zone.
Indore’s municipal authorities have announced that the city’s Mukti Dham locations will host traditional lamp‑lighting ceremonies on Narak Chaturdashi, the night preceding Diwali. Residents are expected to gather at the designated sites to light oil lamps in memory of their ancestors, a ritual that forms part of the broader Diwali festivities across the city.
To facilitate the celebrations and ensure pedestrian safety, the historic Rajwada precinct has been declared a no‑vehicle zone for two consecutive days, starting Saturday. Traffic will be diverted to alternate routes, and law‑enforcement personnel will be deployed to enforce the restriction.
The city’s cultural department has also listed several other Diwali‑related events, including cultural performances and community feasts, but the lamp‑lighting at Mukti Dham and the vehicle ban in Rajwada remain the headline activities for the weekend.
