A Nepali youth in Indore died from an overdose after self‑administering a painkiller injection he saw on YouTube, a forensic investigation later highlighted the misuse and prompted Dr. Pragya Sisodia’s research to win top honors at a national conference.

Earlier this month, a Nepali young man residing in Indore attempted to replicate a pain‑relief injection he had watched on a YouTube video. Believing the demonstration to be safe, he administered the drug into his thigh without medical supervision.

A forensic analysis conducted by local authorities revealed that the injection contained a dosage far exceeding therapeutic limits, leading to a fatal overdose. The report highlighted the dangers of unsupervised self‑administration of injectable medicines and noted that the injection site showed signs of improper technique.

The case formed the basis of a research paper authored by Dr. Pragya Sisodia of MGM Medical College, Indore. Her study examined the forensic findings and proposed guidelines to curb similar incidents. The paper was awarded first place at a recent national medical conference, drawing attention from the broader healthcare community.

Health officials have since urged the public to avoid self‑injecting medications based on online videos and to seek professional medical advice for pain management.
