Indore Revives Century-Old Jhanki Lantern Parade on Friday Night

Indore’s streets will host a spectacular Jhanki lantern procession on Friday night, reviving a tradition that dates back a century. Twenty‑two lanterns, each mounted on a decorated akhada, will set off from the workers’ district and the city centre, moving in a coordinated route that showcases the city’s heritage sites.
The convoy will first pass through the historic Rajwada palace area, allowing residents and visitors to witness the glowing lanterns against the backdrop of the iconic façade. It will then continue to Gorakund, a popular recreational spot, before completing the loop back to the starting grounds.
