Indore: Rambag Dashpind to Host Food Preparation Facility for Uttar Kriya

A new kitchen and large hall at Indore’s Rambag Dashpind site will allow families to prepare food for Uttar Kriya, addressing a long‑standing lack of such facilities in the city’s central area.
Families in Indore have long struggled to find suitable venues for Uttar Kriya, the traditional post‑mortem rites that require a spacious hall and kitchen facilities. The city’s central areas lack dedicated spaces, forcing many to arrange makeshift setups.
The Rambag Dashpind site, located in the western part of Indore, has recently been upgraded with a large hall and a fully equipped kitchen. The new kitchen will enable families to cook the food offerings that are integral to the Uttar Kriya ceremony.
Local officials said the development was part of a broader effort to improve communal infrastructure. “We understand the cultural significance of these rites and have worked to provide a dignified setting for families,” a municipal spokesperson noted.
The addition is expected to ease logistical challenges for residents and ensure that the rituals can be performed with the respect and convenience they deserve.
