The Indore Municipal Corporation has issued notices and penalties to more than 80 large establishments for failing to install mandatory rain‑water harvesting systems, as part of its 2024 target of 25,000 installations.
Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has served legal notices and imposed fines on over 80 major institutions that have not complied with the city’s rain‑water harvesting (RWH) mandate. The enforcement action was taken after inspections revealed that the establishments had failed to install the required harvesting infrastructure despite repeated reminders.
The municipal body had set an ambitious goal of installing 25,000 RWH systems across Indore this year. To date, 19,700 systems have been successfully put in place, leaving a shortfall of 5,300 installations. The non‑compliant institutions represent a significant portion of the remaining gap.
The drive is being overseen by the Municipal Commissioner, who ordered a thorough verification campaign to ensure adherence to the directive. Officials continue to monitor the situation and will levy further penalties on any additional entities that neglect the requirement.
