The Indore Municipal Corporation removed 17 shops in Musakhri and razed illegal extensions of seven houses in Banaganga as part of its 2021 master‑plan road‑widening drive.
Indore’s municipal authority carried out a targeted demolition drive in the city’s Musakhri and Banaganga localities on Tuesday, citing the need to widen key arterial roads. Under the 2021 Master Plan, the corporation identified 17 commercial units in Musakhri that were encroaching on the proposed carriageway and ordered their removal by the Joint Construction Board (JCB).
In the neighboring Banaganga area, officials focused on residential violations, pulling down illegal extensions of seven houses that were obstructing the planned road alignment. The structures were deemed unauthorized and posed safety risks for both motorists and pedestrians.
The corporation’s spokesperson said the action was part of a broader effort to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in rapidly growing parts of Indore. No injuries were reported, and the cleared land is slated for immediate resurfacing and the installation of proper footpaths. Residents were advised to cooperate with future infrastructure projects to avoid repeat disruptions.
