Returning from the U.S. International Visitors Leadership Program, Indore’s mayor said the city will be developed as an artificial‑intelligence hub and urged early preparation.
Indore’s mayor, Pushyamitra Bhargav, returned to the city after participating in the United States’ International Visitors Leadership Program, a diplomatic exchange that brings emerging Indian leaders to observe American best‑practices. In a press briefing, he emphasized that the coming decade will be dominated by artificial intelligence and that Indian cities must begin preparing now.
Bhargav outlined a roadmap to transform Indore into a regional AI hub. The plan includes setting up a dedicated innovation zone, encouraging startups through fiscal incentives, and partnering with local universities to launch AI‑focused curricula and research labs. The municipal administration also intends to upgrade digital infrastructure, such as high‑speed broadband and smart‑city sensors, to attract technology firms.
The mayor’s remarks align with a broader national push to position Indian metros as centers of AI development. By positioning Indore early, officials hope to generate skilled employment, attract private investment, and showcase the city as a model for other tier‑2 centers across the country.
