During Dhanteras, Indore’s Sarafa, Bartan Bazaar, Cloth Market and Rajwada remained open past midnight, drawing crowds that caused traffic disruptions.
On the eve of Dhanteras, shoppers flocked to Indore’s popular markets, keeping the streets buzzing well into the early hours. Sarafa, Bartan Bazaar, Cloth Market and Rajwada were all open past midnight, with vendors selling sweets, spices and traditional attire.
The late-night crowds led to congestion on several main roads, prompting traffic police to deploy additional officers to manage the flow. Local authorities announced that road cleaning crews would work overnight to restore normal traffic conditions.
Despite the disruptions, many residents praised the city’s festive spirit, noting that the markets’ extended hours allowed families to complete their shopping for the holiday.
City officials said they will review traffic management plans for future festivals to minimize inconvenience while preserving the celebratory atmosphere.
