Indore Cyber Fraud Cases: Six Victims Recovered Full ₹4.9 Lakh After Fake APK Scam

Six individuals in Indore were duped through a counterfeit APK, losing a total of ₹4.9 lakh; police have now recovered the entire sum and taken action against the perpetrators.
The Indore cyber crime cell announced that it has successfully closed six cases of online fraud involving a malicious application disguised as a legitimate APK. The victims, who were approached through social media and messaging platforms, were tricked into installing the software, which harvested personal data and facilitated unauthorized transactions.
Collectively, the scams resulted in a loss of ₹4.9 lakh. After a coordinated investigation, authorities were able to trace the digital footprints, apprehend the suspects, and retrieve the stolen funds from the accounts used for the illicit transfers.
The recovered amount has been returned to the affected individuals, and the police have filed charge sheets under the Information Technology Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Officials urged the public to verify the authenticity of any application before downloading and to report suspicious activity promptly.
