The Indore Bagirathpura contaminated water case saw its final hearing postponed to November 5, with the court recommending a compensation of ten lakh rupees for each death.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has deferred the concluding arguments in the Bagirathpura contaminated water case in Indore until November 5. The postponement follows a voluminous investigation report exceeding 600 pages, which highlighted administrative lapses and the intrusion of drainage water into the city’s drinking‑water supply.

The court’s order also included a recommendation that the state government award a compensation of ten lakh rupees to the families of each victim who died after consuming the tainted water. The recommendation reflects the severity of the health impact and the alleged negligence of municipal authorities.

Officials have been directed to file a detailed response to the findings, and the final judgment will consider both the compensation claim and potential accountability measures against the agencies responsible for water quality oversight.
