The Indore Municipal Corporation removed 130 remaining structures obstructing the proposed RE‑2 road, clearing the route from Nayata Mundla to Star Chowk and raising expectations that construction will commence soon.
On Friday, the Indore Municipal Corporation completed the removal of 130 structures that had been blocking the alignment of the RE‑2 arterial road slated to run between Nayata Mundla and Star Chowk. The clearance work was carried out under the city’s ongoing infrastructure upgrade programme and marks the final phase of obstacle removal for the project.
The new RE‑2 corridor is designed to be wider than the existing thoroughfare, aiming to ease congestion on one of the city’s busy east‑west links. Urban planners expect the upgraded road to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time for commuters, and support future commercial development along the stretch.
With the site now free of obstructions, municipal officials have indicated that construction activities are likely to begin in the coming weeks, subject to standard tendering and funding procedures. The municipality has not released a definitive start date, but the cleared path is seen as a green light for the next stage of the project.
