Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain to be Designated as ‘Zero Fatality Districts’ in Madhya Pradesh

The Madhya Pradesh government has announced plans to develop Indore, Bhopal and Ujjain as Zero Fatality Districts, aiming to eliminate road and work‑site deaths.
The state administration of Madhya Pradesh disclosed a new safety programme that will label Indore, Bhopal and Ujjain as "Zero Fatality Districts". The initiative seeks to bring the number of accidental deaths in these districts to zero by strengthening road‑safety enforcement, improving emergency response and enforcing stricter occupational health standards.
Under the scheme, district police, municipal bodies and the state transport department will coordinate to install additional traffic cameras, upgrade signage, and conduct regular safety audits of construction sites. A dedicated task force will monitor compliance and publish monthly reports on fatalities.
Officials said the pilot will run for an initial two‑year period, after which successful practices will be replicated across other districts in the state. The program is part of a broader effort to meet national road‑safety targets and improve public health outcomes.
The announcement was made during a press conference in Bhopal, where the chief minister emphasized that saving lives is a priority for the government and urged citizens to cooperate with enforcement agencies.
