An IndiGo aircraft en route from Goa to Delhi experienced an engine snag mid‑flight and turned back to Goa, landing safely after the crew aborted the journey.
A scheduled IndiGo flight operating between Goa and Delhi reported an engine malfunction while cruising at altitude, prompting the pilots to execute a return maneuver. The aircraft, identified as a narrow‑body Airbus A320, completed a safe U‑turn and landed back at Goa's Dabolim Airport without injuries to passengers or crew.
Airline officials confirmed that the engine snag was isolated and did not affect the aircraft's overall structural integrity. Passengers were de‑boarded, and the airline arranged alternate transportation for those heading to Delhi.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been notified and will investigate the incident to determine the technical cause and ensure compliance with safety protocols. IndiGo stated that the aircraft will undergo thorough checks before being cleared for further operations.
