An IndiGo flight from Dubai to Mumbai was diverted to Rajkot after smoke was detected in the cargo area. Passengers were safely transferred and the aircraft was inspected before returning to Mumbai.
An IndiGo flight from Dubai to Mumbai (flight number IX123) departed Dubai International Airport at 10:30 GMT. Shortly after take‑off, the crew detected smoke emanating from the cargo hold. The pilot immediately notified air traffic control and decided to divert the aircraft to the nearest suitable airport, Rajkot Airport in Gujarat.
All 140 passengers and crew were safely transferred to the terminal, and the aircraft was inspected by airport authorities before being cleared to return to Mumbai. No injuries were reported and the flight resumed its journey to Mumbai later that day.
