IndiGo and Air India have chosen to relocate operations to Navi Mumbai Airport, diverging from the decision of several foreign airlines.
In a significant development for India's aviation sector, domestic carriers IndiGo and Air India have decided to shift their operations to the newly built Navi Mumbai International Airport. This move sets them apart from several foreign airlines who have opted to remain at the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai. The reasons behind this decision are not yet publicly disclosed. The Navi Mumbai Airport is expected to significantly ease congestion at CSMIA, which has been facing capacity constraints in recent years.
