India recorded a services trade surplus of $53.39 billion in the second quarter, according to data reported by The Economic Times.

India's external services sector posted a surplus of $53.39 billion in the second quarter of the fiscal year, the latest figures show. The data, released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and highlighted by The Economic Times, indicates that earnings from services exports outpaced payments for imports during the period.

Analysts note that the services surplus reflects strong demand for Indian IT, business process outsourcing, and professional services abroad. The growth in overseas contracts helped offset a modest rise in payments for foreign travel, education and other service imports.

The widening surplus is seen as a positive signal for the country's balance of payments, reinforcing India's position as a leading global provider of digital and knowledge‑based services.
