Analysts predict India's experience economy could almost double, reaching $59.2 billion by 2030, driven by tourism, entertainment and cultural sectors.
India's experience economy, which encompasses spending on tourism, entertainment, cultural events and experiential services, was valued at approximately $30.8 billion in 2023, according to a recent analysis by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The report projects a near doubling of this figure, reaching $59.2 billion by 2030, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of around 12%. Key drivers include rising domestic disposable income, increasing urbanization, and a growing preference for experiential travel among millennials and Gen Z. The expansion is expected to create thousands of jobs across hospitality, creative industries and event management. Policymakers are urged to support infrastructure development and digital platforms to sustain the sector's momentum.
