India's Centre to Centralise Sterile Drug Licensing; Telangana Included

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has unveiled a scheme to centralise the licensing of sterile drugs across the country. The move aims to streamline approvals, reduce duplication and enhance safety oversight. Telangana has been named as one of the states where the central licensing framework will be piloted.

Under the new system, manufacturers will submit applications to a single central authority instead of multiple state bodies. The government says the change will speed up the approval process and ensure uniform quality standards.

Health officials say the pilot will begin in the coming months, with plans to extend the model nationwide once its effectiveness is proven.
