The Confederation of Indian Industry (ASSOCHAM) says India's trade with BRICS nations has doubled to $417 billion over the past five years.
The trade volume between India and the BRICS bloc – Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa and India – has risen sharply, reaching $417 billion in the last five years, according to a recent ASSOCHAM report. This figure represents a near‑doubling of the trade value recorded half a decade ago, when it stood at roughly $208 billion.
ASSOCHAM highlighted that the growth reflects deeper economic integration, with increased exports of pharmaceuticals, engineering goods and services, while imports of raw materials and technology have also expanded. The surge underscores the strategic importance of the BRICS partnership for India's external trade agenda.
Industry analysts note that the upward trend aligns with broader efforts to diversify markets beyond traditional partners, and they expect the momentum to continue as both supply‑chain linkages and investment flows deepen within the group.
