India and New Zealand have activated their free‑trade agreement, slashing tariffs, opening a $20 billion investment window and simplifying visa procedures for business travelers.

India and New Zealand have officially launched their free‑trade agreement (FTA) today, marking a milestone in bilateral trade relations. The pact removes a wide range of tariffs on goods exchanged between the two countries, aiming to boost trade volumes and create new market opportunities.

Under the agreement, Indian exporters will benefit from lower duties on a broad spectrum of products, while New Zealand firms will gain easier access to the Indian market. The FTA also earmarks an estimated $20 billion in investment opportunities, encouraging joint ventures and technology transfers.

In addition to tariff reductions, the deal introduces streamlined visa provisions for business travelers, allowing quicker processing and longer stays. The agreement is expected to strengthen economic ties and support growth in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and services.
