Reaffirming its commitment to community welfare, public health and sustainable development, Red Shield Division under ageis of Indian Army, inaugurated a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Purification Plant at Shantipur village in Bishnupur district, Manipur, on 07 November 2026. The initiative marks a significant step towards addressing the essential needs of the local population and enhancing their quality of life.
The newly established RO Water Purification Plant aims to provide villagers with reliable access to clean, safe and purified drinking water, addressing a vital community requirement. The facility is expected to improve hygiene and sanitation, minimise the risk of waterborne diseases and promote better health among residents, particularly women, children and elderly citizens.
The project represents an important milestone in strengthening essential community infrastructure and improving everyday living conditions. Beyond meeting immediate drinking water requirements, the facility is intended to provide long-term benefits by encouraging healthier living practices, supporting sustainable development and contributing towards the overall well-being of the village.
The initiative reflects the Indian Army's continued focus on identifying and addressing grassroots requirements through meaningful, people-centric welfare measures. By undertaking projects that directly benefit local communities, the Army continues to strengthen its bond with the people while fostering mutual trust, cooperation and goodwill.
The establishment of the RO Water Purification Plant stands as a testament to the Indian Army's sustained commitment to community development and social responsibility. Through such initiatives, the Army continues to contribute towards improved living standards, stronger civil-military relations and an environment of lasting peace, harmony and prosperity in Manipur.
