India's cyclists returned home empty‑handed from the Asian Games 2026, missing out on all podium spots.
India's contingent in the cycling events at the Asian Games 2026 failed to secure a single medal, leaving the team without a podium finish. The result underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Indian cyclists on the continental stage.
The performance was highlighted by a media commentary that even football icons such as David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo could not have turned the tide for India, emphasizing the gap between expectations and outcomes.
Officials and coaches have pointed to the need for stronger domestic programs and greater international exposure to bridge the performance gap in future editions of the Games.
The Asian Games, a premier multi‑sport event for Asian nations, continues to be a benchmark for assessing the progress of India's sporting disciplines, and the cycling results will likely prompt a review of training and investment strategies.
