A Kaspersky study released this week shows India recorded the highest number of cyber attacks on mobile phone users in the Asia‑Pacific region.

Kaspersky's latest threat‑landscape report, covering the second quarter of 2024, indicates that India logged the greatest volume of mobile malware and phishing attempts among Asia‑Pacific nations.
The surge is linked to the country's massive smartphone penetration, widespread use of unsecured Wi‑Fi networks and a growing focus on banking applications by threat actors. The report notes a 27% rise in malicious app installations compared with the previous quarter.
Kaspersky advises users to keep operating systems and applications up to date, enable two‑factor authentication and avoid downloading apps from unofficial sources. It also urges telecom operators and banks to reinforce their security protocols.
These findings arrive as Indian authorities intensify cyber‑security measures, including the launch of a national mobile security awareness campaign earlier this year.
