India to Prioritise Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Batting Over All‑Rounder Role

India’s cricket selectors have decided not to hasten Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s transition into an all‑rounder, opting instead to strengthen his batting skills first.

India’s national selectors announced today that they will not accelerate Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s development into an all‑rounder. The 23‑year‑old fast bowler, who has shown promise in domestic cricket, will be given more time to refine his batting before being considered for a dual role.

The decision follows a review of Sooryavanshi’s recent performances, where his bowling remained effective but his batting was still evolving. The selectors believe that a stronger batting foundation will make him a more valuable asset in limited‑overs formats.

Sooryavanshi’s coach confirmed that the plan is to provide him with targeted batting drills while maintaining his bowling workload. The player is expected to continue featuring in India’s domestic circuit and may be called up for the national squad once his batting shows consistent improvement.
