India protests UN map that includes Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin

India has formally objected to a United Nations map that depicts Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of China, reaffirming its claim over both territories.
India lodged a formal protest with the United Nations after a newly released UN map displayed the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh as belonging to China and also showed the Aksai Chin region within Chinese borders. The representation runs counter to India's long‑standing position that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of the Republic and that Aksai Chin is territory under Chinese occupation.
The objection was conveyed through a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, which underscored that any cartographic depiction that undermines India's sovereignty is unacceptable. New Delhi reiterated that it expects the UN to respect internationally recognised borders and to correct the erroneous portrayal.
While the UN has not yet issued a response, officials indicated that diplomatic channels remain open to resolve the matter swiftly. India has urged the UN to amend the map in future publications to reflect the country's official territorial claims.
