India has protested a United Nations map released on July 1 that depicts Arunachal Pradesh as a separate state bordering Assam and China, calling the representation inaccurate.

The United Nations published a new political map on July 1 that shows Arunachal Pradesh as an independent entity sharing borders with Assam and China. The map has been widely circulated in discussions surrounding a United Nations General Assembly resolution on territorial issues.

Indian officials responded promptly, stating that the depiction is factually incorrect and does not reflect the country's constitutional boundaries. The Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of the Republic of India and urged the UN to correct the error.

The incident comes at a sensitive time, as India and China continue to dispute the status of border regions, including Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin. New Delhi has warned that any portrayal that separates these territories could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts.

India has called for the United Nations to amend the map and ensure that future publications adhere to internationally recognised borders, emphasizing the importance of accurate cartographic representation in multilateral forums.
