India, France Discuss Deploying EPR Reactors and Localising Nuclear Supply Chain

India and France have entered a dialogue on the deployment of European Pressurized Reactor (EPR) units, a next‑generation nuclear technology. The discussion, held between senior officials from both countries, focused on the technical and regulatory aspects of bringing EPR reactors to India’s nuclear power grid.

A key point of the talks was the localisation of the nuclear supply chain. Both sides agreed that developing domestic capabilities for manufacturing reactor components would reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and lower long‑term costs.
