The Reserve Bank of India has announced that all scheduled banks will remain closed on August 19, 2024. Major institutions like State Bank of India and HDFC Bank will not operate on the holiday.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) officially declared August 19, 2024, a bank holiday across the country. All scheduled banks, including public, private and foreign institutions, will remain closed on that day.
Customers are advised to plan their banking needs in advance, as ATMs and online banking services will continue to operate but no branch transactions will be possible. The holiday is part of the RBI’s annual list of non-working days that align with national and religious observances.
State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and several other major banks will not open their branches. Digital platforms, however, will remain accessible for routine transactions.
Those requiring urgent services are encouraged to use the RBI’s online portals or mobile apps, and to schedule any cash withdrawals or deposits for the day before or after the holiday.
