India chased 226 against New Zealand in the first T20 of the series, winning by 4 wickets, but the win sparked debate over fielding lapses and bowling strategy.
India opened the series with a 226‑run chase against New Zealand, securing victory by 4 wickets in the first T20 match.
The win, however, was not without controversy. Analysts pointed to several shortcomings: lapses in fielding that allowed runs, a lack of discipline in the early overs of bowling, difficulty in containing runs during the middle overs, and an imbalance in the spin department.
With Ishaan Kishan omitted from the second T20, attention has turned to Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s place in the playing eleven. His selection is being debated amid concerns over the team’s bowling balance.
The series will now continue as selectors and coaches reassess strategies to address the highlighted issues and strengthen India’s performance in the remaining fixtures.
