The INDIA Bloc of opposition parties announced a ‘Save Democracy’ rally in Jammu scheduled for October 7, aiming to protest perceived threats to democratic institutions.
The coalition of opposition parties known as the INDIA Bloc has confirmed plans to hold a “Save Democracy” march in Jammu on October 7. The rally is being organised by a group of regional and national parties that have come together under the INDIA banner to voice concerns over recent political developments.
Organisers say the march will be peaceful and is intended to highlight what they describe as a growing erosion of democratic norms at the centre and in several states. They plan to gather supporters from across the region and have invited civil‑society groups to join the demonstration.
Jammu administration officials have been notified of the event and have indicated that police will deploy additional personnel to maintain law and order. Security arrangements are being finalised to ensure the safety of participants and the general public.
While the INDIA Bloc has urged citizens to exercise their constitutional right to protest, some local political leaders have called for restraint, warning that any disruption could affect communal harmony in the sensitive border district.
