India has officially supported a UN resolution on border mapping and reiterated that its maps of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will continue to show the entire region as Indian territory.
India has formally backed a United Nations resolution dealing with the cartographic representation of its borders. The government reaffirmed that the official maps of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will continue to depict the whole region as part of India, rejecting any portrayal that suggests otherwise. The statement, issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, said the move is consistent with international law and India’s sovereign rights. Analysts observe that the declaration comes amid heightened diplomatic activity over the disputed territories, but New Delhi stressed that map integrity is non‑negotiable. No new map revisions were announced; the existing official maps will remain in circulation.
