India and the United Arab Emirates are studying a new undersea oil pipeline route that would link the Arabian Sea with the Gulf, a move prompted by the ongoing Hormuz crisis.

India and the United Arab Emirates have initiated a joint study to identify a new undersea oil pipeline corridor that would connect the Arabian Sea with the Gulf region. The two governments are assessing technical and commercial feasibility, aiming to create a direct maritime link for crude oil transport.

The initiative comes as the strategic Strait of Hormuz remains a flashpoint, with recent disruptions raising concerns over the reliability of existing oil transit routes. By exploring an alternative deep‑water passage, both countries hope to mitigate the risk of supply interruptions caused by geopolitical tensions.

Officials from the ministries of petroleum and foreign affairs said the project is in its early evaluation stage and will involve detailed seabed surveys and environmental assessments. If deemed viable, the pipeline could enhance energy security for both nations and provide a new export channel for Gulf oil destined for Asian markets.

Stakeholders are also considering the broader economic implications, including potential job creation in engineering, construction, and ancillary services. The collaboration reflects a growing trend of Indo‑UAE cooperation in the energy sector, driven by shared interests in stable supply chains.
