A senior Russian naval delegation visited India, underscoring expanding maritime ties between the two nations.
New Delhi hosted a high‑level Russian naval delegation this week, marking a significant step in the two countries' effort to strengthen maritime cooperation. The delegation, led by senior officers of the Russian Navy, met with Indian defence officials to discuss joint exercises, port calls and technology sharing.
Both sides highlighted the strategic importance of the Indo‑Pacific region and expressed a desire to increase interoperability of their fleets. Talks also covered possibilities for collaborative training programmes and the exchange of best practices in naval logistics.
The visit comes amid a broader push by both governments to deepen defence ties, with officials noting that enhanced naval collaboration will contribute to regional stability and secure sea‑lines of communication.
