India and New Zealand have announced steps to deepen trade and maritime cooperation, aiming to boost bilateral commerce and enhance security at sea.
India and New Zealand announced on Thursday that the two nations will intensify cooperation in trade and maritime sectors, signalling a new phase of bilateral engagement. The joint statement highlighted mutual interest in expanding market access and coordinating on maritime safety and environmental standards.
Both countries see the partnership as a way to diversify supply chains and tap into each other's growth markets. For India, deeper ties with New Zealand open avenues in agribusiness, technology and services, while New Zealand aims to increase its presence in South Asia's fast‑growing economy.
The governments said they will set up regular high‑level dialogues and working groups to translate the commitment into concrete projects, including joint research on marine conservation and streamlined customs procedures for goods moving between the two ports.
